Dear Anne and Family,
We were so so sorry to hear about Rick's passing. I lived next door to Rick and Anne for 7 years and I must say I could not have had better neighbours. My grandson, Samuel, loved visiting in the summer as Rick always had a new album with all the wildlife photos he had taken during the year. Anne and family, we wish you comfort and peace during this difficult time.

I admired the way Rick cared for Anne and his family. One thing that nobody can argue is that they made the most of their retirement together. Lots of travels, photography of wild life & birds along the way, trips in their kayaks, walks hand in hand, and lots of teasing each other. Anne and I have regular dinner get-togethers to catch up and I could always count on Rick to have a little surprise waiting for me when I dropped her off. It would be a nice freshly baked loaf of bread, salsa, pickles or even sausages. He always had a joke or two to share as well.
When they got back from trips, Anne would share many of the photos he had taken as they knew that I also enjoyed photography, animals and birds. I thoroughly enjoyed looking over all of the many shots. I also looked forward to the yearly calendar of his chosen top photos.
Rick will definitely be missed and will not be forgotten as his personality was bigger than life. He left with such grace and dignity, which is also admirable. Condolences to Anne and the whole Brown/Rioux family.

We met Rick and Anne seven or eight years ago during one of our winter trips to Bonita Beach, Florida. They escaped the long New Brunswick winters to Bonita Beach where they enjoyed the sunshine and regular kayaking.
We met Anne in the condo’s pool – a favorite hangout of ours, but it was a several weeks before we met Rick. He was always in the kitchen making salsa, strawberry jam, and bread!
When we met Rick, we quickly learned that he and Terry had a mutual interest in photography. Terry gave him a few Photoshop and Lightroom tips, and Rick shared daily wildlife photos with us. At some point, after we had both returned home, Rick shared an elephant photo taken during a 2013 safari and asked Terry for advice on how to produce a large gallery wrap for their home. That amazing photo is included with this guest book memory.
In Florida, Rick and Anne regularly packed food and supplies for migrant families through the Harvest Time Ministries program in Bonita Springs. From the ministry’s website:
“We serve farmworker families who work in the fields planting and harvesting tomatoes, strawberries, jalapenos, peppers, cucumbers and other crops. We feed souls and bodies and show the grace and mercy of Jesus to these workers and their families.”
While we joined them for just one Saturday morning in 2020 to bag food and supplies, Rick and Anne volunteered weekly, and we knew that serving those in need was important to them.
Following the covid pandemic, we scheduled Zoom get-togethers with Rick and Anne and jokingly referred to them as our US-Canada Summits. Our 7th such summit was on May 5, 2024 - when we learned just how serious Rick’s medical issues had become.
Ten days following that summit, we booked flights for a first visit to Fredericton, knowing that it would likely be our final in-person visit with Rick. Terry emailed Anne the morning of May 16 to see if they would be receptive to such a visit, only to learn shortly thereafter that Rick had entered hospice the prior afternoon and passed away earlier that morning. Terry had already addressed a greeting card for Rick and Anne to be mailed that morning that said “Some friends we’ve known forever. Others, we just wish we had.”
Rick was one of the good guys – gone – but never forgotten. Hugs to Anne and the family.
Rest in peace, Rick.

Anne, Shawna & Brian,
I am very sorry for your loss in the passing of Rick. It is never easy when we loose a loved one no matter how long that you are with each other. I remember growing up when our mothers were best of friends. Anne, I will be keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers during this terribly difficult time. May you all draw solace in all the beautiful memories that you all shared together. Stay strong for each other and lean on those close to you to help you through this time. You all will be in my prayers.

When my sister, Anne Marie married Rick, I was given a gift, the gift of a big brother. While I did have a brother, he moved away when I was a little girl. Rick was the brother that I didn't have. He dried my tears and teased me mercilessly. "You have to eat that, Lil, it'll put hair on your chest!" At 14, that was the last thing I wanted to hear. Rick introduced me to live theatre at TNB and one of my best memories was the first play I attended. We saw Dracula! Live theatre remains something that I still love and appreciate today. Rick was generous with his time. He always had time to give me tips on getting the best 'shot' using one of his cameras. When I visited Rick and Anne in Florida, one of the things I noticed that he always had fresh cut flowers on the table and something good in the oven. Mostly what I remember about Rick was how much he loved and cared for my big sister, Anne Marie. You were an honourable and decent man so RIP Rick, because today you are soaring with the eagles and are taking some fabulous photos in heaven. Love, your little sister, Lilianne

We want to send our condolences and prayers for the family members of Rick. Anne and Rick walked by our home many days and we would chat about our dog Riley would love to run out to visit. I saw Anne alone one day and I felt something was off; they always walked hand in hand. We chatted about our old blue Ford that our son we lost drove and everyone tried to guess the licence plate. May he RIP and walk with the Angels and over all the places they visited. God Bless
