Obituary of Darleen Ann Dewar

The gentle passing of Darleen Ann Dewar (Eagles) R.N. of Fredericton, NB occurred on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 7, 1941, Darleen (age 83) was the daughter of the late Annie (Budd) and Austin T. Eagles of Monteagle, NB.

Darleen graduated from Salisbury Regional High School in 1959 and the Charlotte County Hospital School of Nursing in 1962, and later studied at St. Thomas University. Darleen worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years in hospitals in St. Stephen, Moncton, Grand Falls, Oromocto and Fredericton.

Darleen enjoyed gardening, needlework and quilting with friends but her deepest and greatest joy in life was the love and joy brought by her daughter and granddaughter. Darleen wished to express her gratitude to Kim and Addie, who so graciously and lovingly invited her into their home and provided care and support in so many ways during her times of need. Also, a special thank you to wonderful friends, Carol Hallett for helping with transportation and company during many lengthy drives; Ann and Don Coles and Cecile Grant for their visits and inspiration in their favorite hobby.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberley Dawn Burnett (Frank Larocque) and granddaughter, Addison Ann Burnett of Fredericton; sister, Karen Taylor of Moncton and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister, Cathy; brothers, Frederick “Ricky” and Wayne. Thoughts and prayers for Colin and Darryl “Red”.

Darleen and family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, specialists, and extra mural personnel who provided care and assistance during her lengthy illness.

Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the organization of your choice, or by doing a kind deed.

“In our end is our beginning

In our time, infinity

In our doubt, there is believing

In our life, eternity

In our death, a resurrection

At the last, a victory

Unrevealed until its season

Something God alone can see”
