Obituary of Tankosava Dabic

Ms. D

Tankosava Dabic

Passed away on May 2, 2024

My mother was a hero. She was always there for her family and friends and she loved us very much. We have a beautiful angel watching over us now.

Tankosava Dabic was born in Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina. She died at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on May 2, 2024.

She would experience many things throughout her life but one of the biggest was moving to Canada to live with me in 1997 and getting a Canadian citizenship few years later. She loved this country and thrived here. She was proud to be a Canadian.

Mom was a very private and modest person. Friends and neighbours called her Ms. D. Mom loved her home and her back yard. That was her happy place. She could often be found tending to her flowers or vegetable gardens through rain or shine. She also loved knitting slippers, cooking, reading about music and movies and playing solitaire.

She was young at heart and enjoyed spending time with children and youth.

Mom wasn’t thrilled about aging. In fact, she stopped counting her age, when she turned 86, figuring people would think she was an “old lady.”

Saturday was our special day. We loved to shop, go for long drives, have lunch, laugh together and just talk. I will carry those wonderful Saturdays with me in my heart forever.

I stayed with mom around the clock when she was in the hospital. She was proud and strong until the time had come to leave her physical body and embrace the spiritual one. She was at peace.

My mom will be dearly missed by me, her daughter Ljiljana (and Kevin).

She will also be missed by her family: Zeljko, Biljana, Miso, Neda and Faruk.

Mom will be fondly remembered by anyone who met her or knew her, especially by her wonderful neighbors who she appreciated very much.

She will be missed by Wyatt, Layla, Max, Jason, Summer, Ashley, Kaden and Steff, her dear friends Meghann, Bev and Bunny and many others by blood and by bond.

She was predeceased by her parents: Savka and Dragutin Vujic, her husband Nedeljko, and brother Nedjo.

As per her wishes, there will be no visitation. A Private Interment Service will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
