I first met Wayne at the Kelowna Court House in 2000, I was a PO and saw him quite frequently, my first impression was his humour quick wit and damn smart . He was brilliantly funny and we became besties as a shared love of East Coast music drew us together. He was gifted with instruments, me not so much but he was kind and encouraging. My x and I shared many meals with Beryl and his mom Rita ( A lovely human). Wayne brought so much love and joy to people thru his presence and caring. We canoed and snowshoed in the bush and on orders from Beryl he was only allowed to go to the bush with me for fear of getting turned around. Truth is he made me laugh right to my core and it was such a pleasure to share quality time with him. He was the bright light that attracted people to him. I miss him deeply and the Earth is shy a wonderful soul.

My condolences to all the family
When I first moved to St. John's in 1988, I stayed 17 Dicks Street, renting one of the rooms from Brian Murphy. It was not unusual for me to drift asleep with Wayne playing his guitar and singing Leonard Cohen songs from his room on the third floor. When I mentioned it, he apologized for "making noise' that late at night. Always thinking of others! I quickly said please don't stop - some of the best sleeps I have had were in that second floor room. Rest in Peace, Wayne.

I met Wayne when we were doing our BA at STU (1968-72). We lost touch over the years but reconnected by social media. Barb Smart arranged a lunch date on Valentine's Day of 2023 with Wayne and our wives. This will be a very pleasant last memory that I'll have of Wayne who was an innately charming guy with a wicked sense of humour. Sorry to hear of his passing.

What a nice tribute to Wayne, I am saddened by his passing. My sincere condolences to his wife Beryl, his mother Rita, and siblings Catherine, Joanne, Kevin, Paul and extended family. Wayne and I met while living and working in St. John’s in the late 1980’s and stayed in touch throughout the years. We had many laughs and adventures together from Coast to Coast, including moving to British Columbia in 1995. Wayne had a long, successful career as a lawyer in both NL and BC. He had a brilliant mind, quick wit and could make anyone laugh. He even made the judges chuckle a time or two. Wayne was well respected by his colleagues in the legal profession, and Justice system. Wayne did love music and poetry, and was a talented musician . I became a fan of Leonard Cohen and Steely Dan because of him. I am thankful to be in a chapter in the book of Waynes life. I will forever remember Gomek the alligator, and Ripley’s Believe or Not, while vacationing with him in Florida, and all the fun we had spending Christmas in Cancun . God Speed Wayne. You were a gift to this world. I thought I would share this nice professional picture that I have of Wayne, rather than some others I have, like the one where he is wearing a garbage bag .

What a beautiful tribute to Wayne! He was such a remarkable person, one who made a difference in people's lives.
I was one of the merry pranksters sharing the house on Queen St. back in the day, and a long-forgotten memory of Wayne came to mind this week. On this one particular occasion, the weather had been hot and steamy all day, and by nightfall no one felt much like doing anything, so we retreated to various parts of the house to read or study. Suddenly the skies opened with this intense rainstorm, and we heard this rebel yell outside the house. There was Wayne in his bathing suit, running up and down the sidewalk in front of our place, just revelling in the warm rain. His joy in the moment was infectious and of course we all came out and joined him. It's a small moment, but one I think that says so much about him.
Amid the shock and sadness at the news of his passing, I will always treasure the memory of him dancing in the rain.
My heartfelt condolences love to Beryl and all the Jennings family. xo

My deepest condolences to Wayne's family in his passing. I met him in the 90s at Kelowna' s courthouse and had the pleasure of working with him defending our respective clients many times over the years. He was a man of high intelligence & integrity coupled with a playful nature that could generate laughter in all around him. We often recreated a scene from the movie Good Fellows where I was Robert Di Niro to his Joe Pesci impersonation ending with Pesci's famous line "What am I a joke to you."
He was truly one of a kind, a true friend who I will never forget. I will always miss him until maybe we meet again.

Remembering Wayne:
More than 50 years have passed since a group of youngsters lived @ 1542 Queen Street in Halifax - Wayne Jennings among them.
Lifelong connections were made during those student days - merry pranksters wearing 'flare' jeans, listening to record albums spinning on turntables.
These few photos date back to 1973.
Our thoughts now are with all of Wayne's family.
Affectionately from Joann & Graham McPherson

What a beautiful tribute! It brings back so many fun memories of those long ago years when we were close friends. It seemed he always had a literary quote to suit the occasion. In the back of mind I can hear him saying, "Never ask for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee."
Rest in peace, Wayne
