Remembering the good old days when we lived on Medley Street. We had a lot of fun when our children were young.

Nan, my chosen family. I will forever admire and aspire to your unwavering strength, your seemingly unlimited energy, and your hope for the future. I loved agreeing and dis-agreeing with you during our many discussions about...everything under the sun! I loved our 5 minute boiled egg breakfasts, your meatballs and gravy, your sense of humour, your lovely Dutch accent, and your "style", (in all aspects of the word) . I/we have lost a beautiful human being and friend. A true survivor, years of your childhood spent running into bomb shelters, bicycle rides under the cover of night to get food for the family, then later, leaving your homeland to start a new life... We, and Canada have lost another precious Dutch War Bride WWII.

Condolences to the families. As we travelled Maple St past Oak St. I often thought of Nan and wondered if she was still in her home. Nan always kept busy—gardening, baking , camping, walking. I remember Friday nights picking her up and taking her to the FSH hockey games. I sat between Nan and my mother—all eyes were on Steve and Rob only. Thinking of you—cherish all the memories.

I was a neighbour of Nan's for over 23 years and what a wonderful neighbor she was. We shared many a cup of tea over the years. She was a great listener and I loved hearing the stories of her life and her love of music. Nan had boundless energy and a great sense of humor and I will miss her dearly.
