I was both shocked and saddened to hear of Neils passing.
I first met Neil at ADI when we were both driving the same black camaros and became good friends almost immediately. We ended up working together for about 40 yrs. He taught me everything I know about fire protection.
I knew Neil as a hard, dedicated worker who played the same way. He was a "straight shooter" who didn't pull his punches and called things the way he saw them. He had a sharp wit and could make people laugh easily.
I will miss him.

To Neil's family and friends,
Please accept our deepest sympathies. The boys were pretty well grown up and starting their lives when we moved next door to the farm. Nevertheless, they were always there whenever Earl and Toag needed a hand. Neil was the family mechanic. Whenever the old John Deere wouldn't start or the hay baler wouldn't bale, Neil would be there. Wherever he was, whatever he was doing, a phone call from his mom would bring him running and in no time he'd be up to his neck in tools and tractor parts--and when he was finished, whatever was broken wasn't broken any more!
He was a good friend and neighbour. He will be missed.

Had lots of laughs and storeys to tell.

He was always fair and full of knowledge and advise.
We will miss his laugh and his remarks somtemes very funny.

My deepest condolences to Neil's family and friends. I first met Neil at RJ Bartlett as an engineering student. I loved how easily he taught everyone how to do the fire protection considerations, design, inspection and testing. He did his job with such ease and such joy, comfortably calling a spade a spade and he shared and reenforced the importance of enjoying your job as well as enjoying and balancing your life with passions outside of work. I know I am not the only one that was so blessed to learn from this wonderful man, but his legend will live on and be shared through a new set of his protoges. RIP Neil.

Had the pleasure over my many years in the fire protection industry to work with Neil on numerous occasions from his time as a consultant to his years as the key figure for life safety systems with DTI.
Neil's knowledge and passion for life safety was legendary in the province and he did more to protect the lives and property than any single person would do in 2 lifetimes .Neil other passion that would put his day job on the back burner each fall was the apple orchard and usually would mean some samples would be in tow on the next time you would see him after the harvest.
Enjoyed all our conversations over the last nearly 40 years and especially hearing his unmistakable laughter and humorous description of events each would include. The saying of a "dog and pony show" will always bring a chuckle and remind me of Neil.
He will be greatly missed by the all in the life safety industry and he was a friend who we lost to soon. Hope he is RIP in his favorite apple orchard.

I worked with Neil for more than 30yrs both as a co worker and as a client .He was at the top of his field in regards to life safety systems Neil had both a great practical and theoretical knowledge of his field of work .(very Rare ) He had many practical solutions which saved the Govt and in the end taxpayers substantial dollars over his career .
Best of all he had a great sense of humour and could take a joke, he had to being a huge maple leaf fan .

These are pictures of Neil Jewett when he worked for Professional Loss Control (now called PLC Fire Safety Engineering) back in in early 1990's before he went to work for RJ Bartlett for a time.
I worked with Neil frequently while he worked at the Department of Supply and Services. He was a man with good principals.
