CLARK, JANET LOUISE

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Janet Louise Clark (nee Douglass) announces her passing on January 28, 2024 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Richard Nelson Clark.

Mum was born November 20, 1932, the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the second youngest born to Agnes (Harvey) and Edward Thomas Douglass of Stanley, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard (Dick) Clark; daughter, Barbara Jean Comeau; and grandson, J Richard (Ricky) Pike and all of her siblings and their spouses, sister, Reba and husband Alexander Croll; brother, Charles and wife Alice Douglass; sister, Ruby and husband Luther Bubar; sister, Estella (Stella) and husband David Keenan; brother, Lloyd and wife Faye Douglass; brother, Earle and wife Glenna Douglass; sister, Annie and husband Jake Jacobs; and sister, Edith and husband Arthur Boone.

Mum was also predeceased by brother-in -laws, J. Frank Clark, Merton Clark; sisters-in-law, and husbands, Ardath (Clark) and Albert Chaffey, Isabelle (Clark) and Bev Matchett, Avis (Clark) Baker and Eleanor (Clark) and Stanley Klyza.

Mum is survived by daughters, Diana (Jack) Pike, Nancy (David) Currie, Donna (Chris) Bubar, Frances Langille and chosen daughter, Tracey Campbell; a brother-in-law, Derek Baker, brother-in-law, George and wife Lolly Clark; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

To us she was just Mum. She was a registered nurse who worked mainly private duty and made a home for us six girls. She was an excellent cook, who made most of our clothes. She sewed for others too. She knit for everyone she knew and often had two projects on the go so the individuals would not know that she was knitting for them. She made beautiful handmade quits.

To the family she was “Aunt Janet”. She was ready to help care for all of her nieces and nephews. While cleaning a bulletin board, we came across a list of nieces and nephews with their Medicare numbers. She would drop everything to care for them. A friend of the family once said, “Everyone needs an Aunt Janet in their life.”

Mum was a remarkable woman with a loving heart who had a positive influence in the lives of those she touched.
