FLINN, WALTER JAMES

The passing of Walter James Flinn of Oromocto, NB, husband of Nancy (Ball) Flinn, occurred on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 24, 1944 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Fullarton) Flinn. Walter was employed with the City of Fredericton, Engineering and Public Works department for over 25 years. After retirement, Walter enjoyed traveling with Nancy and their friends. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed country music and hunting. Walter also enjoyed the time he spent at the camp and proudly reigned as the self proclaimed “Mayor” of Sunset Bay in Mill Cove.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, Walter is survived by his children, Belinda Fletcher and Stacey Barrett (Todd Hannan); grandchildren, Brandon Fletcher (Sarah), Jordan Fletcher (Shelby), Kaitlyn Barrett (Jackson) and Haylie Hunt (Tristan); many great grandchildren; brothers, Laurie Flinn (Sandra), Gary Flinn (Alice) and Bill Flinn; sisters, Joyce Harvey, Kay Hansen (Dave), Helen McDade; brother-in-law Robert Marshall and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Marshall; sister-in- law, Debbie Flinn; and brother-in-law, Gary McDade.

In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there will be no visitation; a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
