Gerald Billings, age 94, of Fredericton died peacefully on Thursday, Jan 18, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.  He was born on June 27, 1929 at Hainesville to the late Guy and the late Hazel (Stewart) Billings.

Gerald was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Eva Billings.  While he had many relatives and close friends, he was fortunate in his later years to enjoy the special friendship of Freda Henderson.

A retired plumber, he started his career working with his brother Edison Billings for many years and knew the inside workings of many of Fredericton’s homes and businesses.  He ended that career with Consolidated Services Ltd.  He said if you like what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.

He is survived by his children Dale Billings (Louise), Patti Morrison (Stuart) and Jeff Billings (Brenda) all of Fredericton; Five grandchildren, Chris Morrison (Sylvie), Kate Gagnon (Greg),Jason Morrison (Jill) all of Fredericton, Jennifer Drost (Ryan) of Quispamsis and Gavin Billings (Courtney) of Halifax; Seven great-grandchildren, Maddison, Zachary and Daniel Drost, Alina Morrison, Hanna Dean Gagnon, Jack and Jayla Morrison; sister-in-law Paulette Billings, brothers-in-law Wayne Billings (Nancy) and Stan Billings (Lynn); son-in-law, Adrian Thompson; many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by daughter Deena Thompson, two brothers Edison Billings (Jennie). Hartley Billings (Mildred), brothers-in-law Harold Billings (Marilyn), Arnold Billings, sister-in-law Louise Billings, Rayma Blake (David), Rowena Sherwood (Alan).

Gerald’s adventures took him many places all over New Brunswick frequently.  There would not be many roads he had not travelled, restaurants he had not tried, fishing spots he had not fished, fields he had not hunted, trails and lakes he had not snowmobiled.  Gerald loved people and nature the most. He enjoyed country music shows and the friends he saw there as well as at Tim’s. He shared his stories with many and his memory was incredible all of his life.  He knew how to treat people and people treated him so well.  We are thankful that he enjoyed a full long life and much appreciate the good cooking and assistance Jill Rediker provided this past year in his home.
