PORTER, FRANK

With heavy hearts but also with great peace, the family of Frank Porter would like to announce his passing on January 9th, 2024 after a very long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley (Davidson) Porter; his sons, Kevin (Joy), Dan (Missy), Bob, and Mike (Abby) as well as his six beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Noah, Jonah, Ethan, Molly and Anna; brother, Raymond (Frederica); sister, Betty (Ted) Ross as well as special aunt, Frances Porter and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother, Elsie Granger (Porter).

Born on January 27th, 1945 in Doaktown, NB, Frank graduated from Stanley High School in 1963, then went on to graduate from UNB Fredericton.  He founded his business Frank Porter Insurance Agency Limited (State Farm Insurance) in Fredericton and served the greater Fredericton area for more than 30 years.  He was a man of great faith; he was an active member of Journey Wesleyan Church and helped many people in the community.  Frank was also a huge sports fan with a love of baseball and hockey which he played for many years.

Visitation will take place at Journey Church, 131 Duncan Lane, Fredericton, NB on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 12-2 pm; followed by a Funeral Service at 2 pm with Rev. Matthew Maxwell officiating.  Pallbearers for the service will be Randy Inman, Paul Inman, Hugh McKnight, Don Ellis, Wayne Cliff and Carl Wilson.

The family would like to thank the following people for their exceptional care over the last several months: The palliative care team at the DECH, Dr Liam Hickey (and team), Extramural, Fredericton Hospice for their compassionate care during his last few weeks.  A very special thank you to their caregiver Kim whose kindness and support has been very much appreciated over the last several months.
