It is with great sadness that the family of George Byron Seely announce his passing, at home, on January 7th, 2024. George was born July 15th, 1937, to parents Charles and Ida Seely, in Havelock, NB.

George is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Diane Seely (Douglass), his three doting daughters Andrea (Dale), Leah (Rob) and Cara (Jonathan); ten wonderful grandchildren Alysha, Hailee, Kevin, Byron (Sarah), Samantha, Aiden, Victoria, Jessica (Cade), Emma and Kaleb; and the apple of his eye, great-granddaughter Eddison. George will also be fondly remembered by sister Mona Mosher (Everett) and brother Cuthbert (Wanda), along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was pre-deceased by his brother Ernest Seely (Myra) and sister Hazel Clark (Arthur).

George studied engineering at the University of New Brunswick and at the Nova Scotia Technical Institute in Halifax, NS. George worked as a consultant in the engineering field for a number of companies and subsequently achieved 30 years of service within various departments in the Government of New Brunswick.

George always enjoyed helping neighbours, family and friends, and was known by most as “Mr. Fix It”, and for his quick wit. He could be found helping family during maple syrup season, working under cars in the driveway, or tinkering around the house. George always ensured family never had to take their cars to the garage, as he didn’t see the need if it was something he could repair himself. Towards the end, George enjoyed sitting in the sunshine in the den, surrounded by family, reminiscing about his many experiences in life.

Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr, Fredericton, NB. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11th, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00pm, followed by a service at 2:00pm. An interment will take place at the Taymouth Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to recognize honorary pall-bearers; nephews David Bubar, Jeff Seely, Arden Whitlock, Kent Flemming, James Mosher and Robert MacNaughton.

The family would also like to give special thanks to the local Palliative Care and Extramural professionals for their warm compassion and efforts while George was in their care in the comfort of his home; to the Saint Andrews Presbyterian Tuesday Morning Ladies Group, and to friends and family for providing comfort and food.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint Andrews Presbyterian church, the upkeep of the Taymouth Cemetery, or a charity of your choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
