Obituary of Fred Day

The passing of Frederick James Day of Fredericton, NB, husband of May (McCree) Day, occurred on December 11, 2023 at York Care Centre, after a long battle with dementia. Born on October 28, 1942 in Lichfield, England, he was the son of the late Fred and Ellen (Langford) Day. 

 

Fred is survived by his wife, May; son, Rick (Jenn); daughters, Tracy and Susan; grandsons, Nicholas (Edith) and Cameron; granddaughter, Paige; special friends Tom and Lisa Brown; many foster grandchildren that still call him “Grampy Fred”. Fred was predeceased by his sister, Sandra, and many extended family members.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Katherine Hadley, Dr. Mohammad Khaleduzzaman, staff of 4E, Leah and her angels on 4SW at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for the amazing care he received over the last year.  We would also like to thank Dr. Sheldon Wood and the staff at York Care Centre for their loving care of Fred, especially during his last few days at the home.

 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday December 14, 2023 from 1pm to 2pm, followed by a service at 2pm with Pastor Normand McDonald officiating. For those unable to attend you may join the live stream via www.yorkfh.com webcast. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Chalmers Foundation, going to 4E, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
