Obituary of Miriam Cleda McNeill Hanson

The passing of Miriam Cleda McNeill Hanson of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Kenneth Russell Hanson, occurred on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on July 31, 1945 in Dorn Ridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late Watson and Nellie (White) McNeill. Miriam graduated from Atlantic Business College and worked for the UNB Library for several years before having her children. She later became a worker for the Salvation Army Thrift Store and the Fredericton Anti-Poverty Organization. She also enjoyed gardening and kept massive house plants she was very proud of.

Miriam is survived by her daughter, Heather Hanson of Fredericton, NB; son, Darren Hanson (Linda) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Jacob (Jayne), Logan, Alyssa, Taya, Tasha (Darrel), Ashley (Stephen) and Brittany (Kevin); 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Merlin McNeill (Margaret) of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews and several lifetime friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Miriam is predeceased by her brother, Vernon McNeill (Karen).

At Miriam’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time, the family will have a private celebration and Miriam will be joined with her husband at Burtts Corner Community Cemetery, Burtts Corner, NB at a later date.
