Obituary of Donna Elizabeth Currie

The passing of Donna Elizabeth Currie of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Wilbert Currie, occurred on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on June 8, 1939 in Woodland, NB, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie (Wilkins) Nicholson.  Donna was a member of the Nashwaaksis United Church.   

Donna is survived by her children, Joanne Currie-Peck (Douglas) and Gregory Currie (Michelle); granddaughter, Alyssa Spear (Nick); great granddaughter, Amelia; sisters, Joan Crawford (Brian) and Carolyn O'Leary (Ward); brothers, Winston Nicholson (Betty), Wayne Nicholson (Marie) and Allison Nicholson (Marilyn); sister-in-law, Maxine Boone; and several nieces and nephews.


Besides her husband and parents, Donna was predeceased by her brother, Charles Nicholson (Therese) and brother-in-law, Samuel Boone.


Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, FrederictonNB on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 1 pm with Rev. Kay Clowater officiating.  Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery.  For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
