Patterson, Rodney Edgar

1945 – 2023

Rodney E. Patterson passed away November 10, 2023, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, after a brief illness. Rod was born in Fredericton and was the son of the late Barbara and Everett Patterson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharyn (nee Bell) Patterson of Fredericton, one daughter, Holly Patterson; his son of a previous marriage, Joel Patterson; two brothers, Stephen (Linda) and Christopher Patterson all who live in Fredericton and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother George Patterson.

Following Rod’s graduation from Fredericton High School, he enrolled at the NBCC Saint Campus becoming a licensed journeyman electrician.Rod’s electrical trade took him to every region of Canada working on large industrial projects. He was active in his union where he made many friends and has maintained those friendships to this day.Rod enjoyed fishing in his youth and as the years passed he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and attending yard sales and flea markets with his son Joel, searching for hidden treasures.

A private family memorial service will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 1:30pm.For those not attending the service will be live streamed.

Those desiring, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by Rod’s family.

The family particularly wishes to thank the compassionate staff of the ICU at the Chalmers Hospital, especially Dr. Aslam, Dr. R. Havey, and Dr. H.
