Obituary of James Gordon Coveney

The passing of James “Jim” Gordon Coveney of Penniac, NB, husband of the late Muriel “Bunny” Courier, occurred on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB.  Born on August 30, 1942 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Darlington) Coveney. Jim worked as an Electrician for NB Power; in his early years, he was the drummer for the Golden Bel-Aires. Jim was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion: Fredericton Branch No. 04 and was the drummer for the band. Jim enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and especially, bingo. 

Jim is survived by daughter, Misty Coveney (Greg); granddaughters, Jayne Ogilvie and Paige Coveney-Poirier all of Riverview, NB; step-daughters, Ann Marie Allen (late Junior) and Mary Lou Hayes (Leonard); step-son, Ricky Courier (Wendy): step-grandchildren, Chris Allen, Andrew Allen and Dana Allen (Amy) all of Penniac, NB, Dale Butler of Saint John, NB, Ashley Courier and Jenna Courier of Fredericton, NB; nephew, Bradley Palmer; special friend, Barney Jeffrey and several cousins.


Besides his parents and loving wife of over 30 years, Jim is predeceased by sister, Katherine “Dudie” Palmer (Roger).

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at the Penniac United Church Cemetery, Penniac, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton SPCA or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
