Sweezey, Elaine Alda

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Alda Sweezey. Elaine, the cherished wife of Reigh Maxwell Sweezey, departed from this world on September 28, 2023, at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was born on April 17, 1946, in Woodstock, NB, and was the daughter of the late Ferne (Hopkins) and Vernon Kinney.

Elaine was a remarkable individual who had a successful career as a Civil Engineering Technologist and Architectural Designer. Her creativity knew no bounds, and her work left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to experience it. In her leisure time, she found joy in wind surfing, waterskiing, down hill and cross-country skiing, walking, yoga, gardening, renovating, designing her custom patterns and sewing. Elaine was always welcoming and enjoyed hosting and entertaining her family and many friends over the years.

Elaine was not only an “earth angel” mother to Kassia and Kyle but a true best friend forever. Elaine always enjoyed spending time with Cole, Koen and Lily. She diligently read books to them as they were growing up and always teaching them new things such as baking, sewing, tea time and more. Memories that will last forever in their hearts.

Elaine's memory will forever be cherished by her family, including her loving husband Reigh Maxwell Sweezey, her daughter Kassia Sweezey, her son Kyle Sweezey (Dale), and her adoring grandchildren: Cole Shlakat, Koen Sweezey, and Lily Sweezey. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Martin (Terry), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her sister Sylvia Bamford.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. Instead, a private family celebration of Elaine's life will be held at a later date, allowing loved ones to come together and honor her memory. Her final resting place will be in Sunny Bank Cemetery, with the interment to take place on a future occasion.

For those who wish to pay their respects and honor Elaine's memory, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences and memories may also be shared at www.yorkfh.com as we celebrate the remarkable life of Elaine Alda Sweezey.
