Obituary of Elizabeth Anne Campbell

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of our mother, Elizabeth “Liz” Anne Campbell, on Sunday, September 17, 2023 while visiting her son in Stratford, ON. Liz was born on December 26, 1935, in Point Tupper, NS to Francis and Annie (Malcolm) Forbrigger.

Liz, or Betty as she was known to her five siblings, trained as a nurse in Glace Bay, NS and then moved to Montreal in her 20’s. With an appetite for adventure and a desire to see Europe, she joined the Canadian Armed Forces, and it was while posted in Germany that she met and married our father.

A military wife, Liz had two postings in Germany and moved all over Canada, eventually settling in Fredericton. After years of working as an allergy nurse, Liz traded in her hypodermic needles for sewing and knitting needles and ran the Singer Sewing Centre and Yarns On York for 21 years, teaching many people in Fredericton how to knit and sew. At the young age of 62, Liz became a certified sewing machine repairwoman!

Liz was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, the CWL and was the treasurer at Birthright for many years. A lover of music, Liz was a long-time member of The Elm City Echoes and the barbershop quartet, Four Crying Out Loud.

Liz was predeceased by her husband, David and her daughter, Amy and is survived by her son, David (wife Penelope Schledewitz), and her, daughter Trish (husband John Heinstein), her grandson, Pearce Heinstein and her great-granddaughter, the light of her life, Arcane Heinstein. She will also be greatly missed by her siblings, Francis Forbrigger (Helen) of Dartmouth, NS, James Malcolm (Sherry, dec) of New Minas, NS, Rose Begg (Doug) of St George’s Channel, NS, Anne Murphy (Paul, dec) of Coldbrook, NS, Tricia Morrison (Adrian) of Halifax, NS and 21 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Monday, October 16, 2023 with a Memorial Service at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11 am. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery

In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Greener Village, NB Public Libraries, or The Truth and Reconciliation Fund. Personal condolences may be offered through the funeral home’s online guestbook.
