Obituary of Ruth Louise Gilmore

The passing of Ruth Louise Gilmore of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late William Gilmore, occurred on September 24, 2023 at Shannex - Neill Hall.  Born on October 17, 1930 in Mactaquac, NB,  she was the daughter of the late Harry and Camilla (Burden) Wilson. Ruth was 92 years old. She was an active member of the Mactaquac Baptist Church, member of the Keswick Ridge Historical Society and member of the Keswick Ridge Quilters; she has provided quilts and her expertise to many over the years. Her passion in life was her family, she cared for many in the community as well.  In her younger years she enjoyed square dancing.    

Ruth is survived by her children, Elbridge Gilmore (Connie) of Keswick Ridge, NB, Norma Gilks (Peter) of Fort McMurray, AB, Elizabeth Callaghan (Ted) of Keswick Ridge, NB and Walter Gilmore (Shawnee) of Calgary, AB; son in law, Terry Northorp of Scotch Lake, NB; grandchildren, Nathan Gilmore (Kristin), William Gilmore (Candace), Sarah McCutcheon (Shawn), Clover Woods (Bobby), Ben Gilmore (Amy), Matthew Gilks (Jessica), Michael Gilks (Nicole), Olivia Callaghan (Jonathan), Miranda Price (Dan), Tiffany Northorp (Jamie), Joel Northorp (Belle), Adam Gilmore (Teena), Walter Gilmore (Catherine) and Robbyn McCarthy (Jesse); 34 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; siblings, Murray Wilson (Jean), Hazel Grey (Gerald), Kenneth Wilson (Mary); and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Audrey Northorp; siblings, Jean Yerxa (Guy), Lloyd Wilson (Marie) and Helen Jackson (Robert).

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place at Mactaquac Baptist Church, 1496 Route 105, Mactaquac, NB on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Beckwith officiating and assisted by Rev. Ralph Irving.  Pallbearers for the service will be her grandchildren, Nathan Gilmore, Will Gilmore, Matthew Gilks, Adam Gilmore, Ben Gilmore and Olivia Callaghan.  Honourary Pallbearers will be Joel Northorp, Peter LaForest and Charlie Hawkins.  Private Family Interment will take place in Pickard Merrithew Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Pickard Merrithew Cemetery, Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice. Family would like to thank the staff at Neill Hall, especially Britt for their care and compassion shown to Ruth during her time there and her special friend, Debbie Painter.
