Obituary of Vaughn Fraser

Please share a memory of Vaughn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Reginald “Vaughn” Fraser on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 84. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Albert Neil and Ethel Mae (Scott) Fraser.

Vaughn will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Evelyn Fraser. A large family survives him; step-children, Dennis Carr (Gisele), Joy Murray (Dan), and Susan DeLucry (Dean); step-grandchildren, Sylvia Plume (Mike), Bradley Murray (Susan), Beth Allen (Jordan) and Ben DeLucry; step-great-grandchildren, Emma and Jackson Plume, Sullivan Murray, Davis, Vera and Adele Allen; children, Scott (Shirley), Troy (Debbie), Twila (Peter), Shane (Tracy) and Reggie; grandchildren, Lee (Matt), Ashton and Misty, Nick and Chris, Garrison and Alexis, and Nikyta; siblings, Joyce Piercy (late Gordon), Mavis Greer (late Mike), Velda Morrow (late Hugh), Maryann Patterson (late Gary), Myrna Fraser (Dan), Travis Fraser (late Ann), Brian Fraser (Cynthia) and Mark Fraser (Rose). Vaughn was predeceased by his brother Bobby.

Vaughn had a passion for playing golf and watching sports, especially his Boston Red Sox and Toronto Maple Leafs. After many years working as Sheriff and Coroner for York County, he and Evelyn enjoyed 20 years of winters in Florida. Vaughn loved his home on Harvey Lake, and always enjoyed chatting with neighbours, especially his great friends Ed and Nancy Christie and Donna Hoyt, who were always there to support and help.

The Fraser family would like to thank the DECRH CCU unit staff for the excellent care they gave Vaughn during his time there.

As per his wishes, family and friends are invited to drop in for a Celebration of Vaughn’s Life on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Evelyn and Vaughn’s family home in Harvey between 1:30 and 3pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com

Rest in peace, Vaughn. We love and miss you dearly.
