Obituary of Vernon Albert Lyle Bone

The passing of Vernon “Vern” Albert Lyle Bone of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Agnes Mary Bone, occurred on Saturday, August 19, 2023 after a short stay at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on July 13, 1937 in Atikokan, ON, he was the son of the late Wesley and Annette Bone. Vern worked as a mechanic for the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was involved with the Legion poppy campaign for many years. He enjoyed playing competitive cribbage, hunting, fishing, reading, wildlife and bird watching and his pets.

Vern is survived by his children, Bonita Horncastle (Brian) of Fredericton, NB, Patricia Stennick of Fredericton, NB, Deborah Bone of Calgary, AB, Lisa Bone and Daryl Bone; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Mel Bone, Norm Bone and Brenda Drennan all of BC; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and loving wife, Vern was predeceased by his daughter, Elise McNeil; and son, Douglas Bone.

Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home. A Graveside Service for Vern and Mary will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, September 6 at 2pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton SPCA, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
