Obituary of Dola Jane Ackerson

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Dola Jane Ackerson of Fredericton, NB, on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on April 13, 1943 in New Zion, NB, she was the daughter of the late Borden and Pearl (MacDonald) Ackerson. Dola moved to Toronto where she stayed and worked for 50 years before returning to Fredericton to retire.

Dola is survived by son, Stephen Ryder; daughter-in-law, Maria Ryder; grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew siblings, Ruby White, Glendon (Maxine), Larry (Janet), Valerie McNeal (Ron), John William, Gary, Marg Caverhill, Wendall (Susan), Philip (Daphne); several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Timothy Ryder and his father, Larry Ryder; and an infant son, Kenny.

Visitation will take place at Journey Church Fredericton, 131 Duncan Lane, Fredericton on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 6 to 8 pm.  A Memorial Service will be held at Journey Church Fredericton, 131 Duncan Lane, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 1 pm with Rev. Matthew Maxwell officiating.  Interment will be in Ripples Community Cemetery. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU at the DECRH for their care and compassion.
