Obituary of Ray Willard Parker

Please share a memory of Ray to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We are sad to announce the passing of Ray Willard Parker on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Hospice House Fredericton at the age of 90. Survived by son, Darwin (Vicki); daughter-in-law, Susan; grandchildren, Jamie (Beth) and Jason (Jackie); great grandchildren, Nick and Noah; and sister, Joyce (Bill) Charters; sister-in-law, Kaye; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son, Doug; wife, Bertha “Toots”; brothers, Huntley and Purdy (Joyce).

Dad enjoyed a 40-year career with CN Rail that took him from places like Bantalor and Blue Bell and many places in between to his retirement location of Moncton where he retired in 1991. After retirement he took up woodworking and most of his family and friends have a piece of furniture to remember him by. Many days in his shop were spent drinking coffee and telling stories with his friends and I suspect many went by without a nail driven.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel. At his direction there will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be a Graveside Service at St. Thomas UnitedChurch Cemetery in Doaktown on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11 am followed by a lunch to be served at the Salmon Museum. Special thanks to all the staff at Hospice House Fredericton, he received the best, most compassionate care one could ever imagine. Donations to Hospice House Fredericton are appreciated.
