SPENCER, RANDY

With sadness and love in our hearts the family of Randy Spencer announce his passing early morning, August 8th 2023. Surrounded by loved ones in his final days, Randy passed peacefully at Fredericton Hospice House after a fierce battle with Cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Georgette, his daughter Lisa (Dave), his son Adam (Nicole), his brother Jerry (Wendy), sister Bev (John), and sister-in-law Carol (late George) along with a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he was all incredibly proud of. Lastly, Randy leaves behind one grandchild London (daughter of Lisa & Dave) who truly lit up his life through her love of singing, dancing, and art.

Randy was predeceased by his father Leon George Spencer, his mother Bette Spencer-Sussey, and his brother George Spencer.

Born and raised in Fredericton, Randy was a Fredericton man through and through and loved to tell stories about how much the city had advanced over the years. In many ways Randy embodied that same spirit of advancement in our city, always being the first to help whenever anybody needed anything. Whether it was sponsoring a child overseas, donating his tools to The 12 Neighbours Project, or simply helping his son build a deck or fence for fear of him chopping off a finger - Randy was always right there to help. On the odd occasion that Randy did take time for himself you would likely find him watching a NASCAR race on television or off playing with his fur-grandchildren Ollie and Yoshi, whom he loved to take out for walks.

The family would like to offer their eternal gratitude to all of the healthcare workers who helped him over this past year. Extra special thanks to Krista from the Extra-Mural program, Dr. Lim of Moncton, Dr. Walsh of Halifax, and Dr’s Chase, Boisvert, Myles, and Colpitts of Fredericton. Finally, thank you to Dr. Frenette and the team at Hospice House for ensuring dad’s final days were comfortable.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11am at St. Anthony’s Church with Father Maria Arokiam Chinnappan as celebrant, assisted by Rev. Canon Wandlyn Snelgrove. A private interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery followed by a reception.  For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House Fredericton. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
