Obituary of Elwood Storey Sharpe

It is with great sadness that the family of Elwood Storey Sharpe announce his passing on July 30, 2023.  The son of the late Arthur & Vera Sharpe, he was born, raised and lived his entire life in Scotch Settlement.  He married the love of his life, Annis (Yerxa) Sharpe in 1962.  They spent 61 years together.  

Elwood worked on farms and in the woods in his younger years.  Eventually becoming a carpenter, he worked at Mactaquac Park for 21 years where he became Maintenance Foreman, retiring in 1993.  Elwood loved wood working and he was an avid gardener.  He loved to pass on his knowledge of gardening to anyone who was interested, however his passion was his family.  

He is survived by his wife, Annis; daughter, Carol (John) Jones; sons, Robin (Angie) Sharpe and Philip (Lisa) Sharpe; grandchildren, Robert (Katie) Sharpe, Stephanie (Aaron) Mead, Emily Sharpe, Jacob Miller & Joshua Sharpe; three great grandchildren; brother, Harold (Sylvia) Sharpe, Raymond (Madeline) Sharpe and Cecil Sharpe; sisters, Mabel (late Arnold) Ingraham, Marion (Conrad) Brewer and sister-in-law, Sheila (late Allen) Sharpe. 

Besides his parents, Elwood was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Kim Sharpe; grandson, Matthew Jones; brothers, Merle (late Florence) and Allen; and sister, Mildred (late Clarence) Moore.  

Visitation will take place from York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 6:30-8:30 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 2 pm with Rev. Eric MacKinnon officiating.  Interment will take place in Scotch Settlement Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Autism Connections or to a charity of the donor’s choice.  We want to extend our thanks to the nurses and doctors of 3SW & Extra Mural for their care & compassion.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
