Obituary of Rowena Agnes Currie
It is with great sorrow that the family of Rowena Agnes Currie announce her passing on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in
Besides her parents, Rowena was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Currie; her special companion, John Couturier; and brother, Edison White.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Pond (John) of Durham Bridge, NB and Katheryn Martin (Glenn) of Woodstock, NB; grandchildren, Jessica, Gerald and Travis Pond, Jeffrey, Mallory, and Riley Martin; great granddaughter, Chloe Knox; siblings, Guida Rog, Shirley Dunnett, Floyd White (Gail Anderson) and Mildred Anderson (Charlie); sister-in-law, Faye White and many others dear to her.
Rowena was a beloved mom, nanny, sister, aunt and friend to many. Although her family was her greatest pride and joy, she found great happiness in dancing, shopping, camping, sunshine, flowers, and a good hairstyle. Her lifelong career with NB Power was something she took much pride in and we will never forget the stories she shared of those times. She will be missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to know and love her.
The family would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to the staff in 3SW at the DECRH, especially Dr. Khaleduzzaman who cared so compassionately and went above the call of duty for Rowena and all of the family.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 3 pm with Pastor Chris Bennett officiating. A Private Interment will take place in Seymour Memorial Cemetery, Kingsley, NB with a reception to follow. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the MS Society, Lupus New Brunswick or the Birdton Cemetery.
