Obituary of Harold Boone

Harold Robert Boone – 66, Truro, formerly of Fredericton, New Brunswick, quietly went to be with his Saviour on Wednesday morning, July 12, 2023, at Wynn Park Villa, Truro. Born in Toronto, he was a son of the late Raymond and Alice (Packham) Boone.

Harold's life was marked by a deep dedication to his work, his family and his faith. He attended the Maritime Forest Ranger School in 1985 and later joined the City of Fredericton, where he served as the Trail and Project Coordinator in the Parks and Trees Division. His passion for developing and nurturing the trail systems from their earliest stages was evident to all who knew him.

Despite facing the challenges of Parkinson's disease, Harold remained steadfast in his faith in God. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Harold lived out this faith by extending genuine care and interest to everyone he met, forging lasting friendships and sharing the peace he had found. 

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rowena (Smith), who was his constant source of love and support. He leaves behind his son, Andrew Boone (Sara); his daughter, Joanna Richard (Alexandre); his adored grandchildren, Ethan, Zachary and Samuel Boone, Charlotte and James Richard. He also leaves behind his brothers, Bill Boone (Teri), Byron Boone (Cathy); sisters, Pat Chute (David), Kathy Barnet (Ross); chosen brother, Wayne Mayo (Val); aunt, Joyce Leary; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Wynn Park Villa for their care during Harold's time there.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, NS on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday July 17, 2023 at 1 pm with Pastor Chris Price officiating. The Public is welcome to register to view the live stream at www.yorkfh.com. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Marysville United Baptist Church Cemetery Extension.
