Obituary of Gary Cecil Morehouse

We are saddened to announce the passing of Gary Cecil Morehouse who died at Hospice House in Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, June 27^th, 2023.

Throughout his life Gary was known to be a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. He spent his career working as a mechanic, truck driver and anyone who ever worked with him would tell you he was one of the most skilled heavy equipment operators they had ever worked with.

In his younger years, he cold often be found at one of his many friends’ homes with his beloved guitar, playing and singing to the delight of all in attendance, Johnny Cash and Kenny Rogers were regulars for his playlist and other times he could be found watching his beloved old western movies.

Gary is survived by his mother Mildred Morehouse; brother, Tommy (Vera) Morehouse; sister, Judy (Peter) Brewer; his children, Richard (Sonya) Prosser, Heidi Johnsen, Leonard (Cynthia) Morehouse, Denise (Nick) Miller and Tiffany Johnston; his grandchildren, Alyssa Prosser, Brandon (Samantha) Prosser, Jessee Johnsen, Brady Miller, Shey and Dylan Johnston; great-grandchild, Rowan; nieces, Tammy Brewer and Susan Hanson; several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Cecil Morehouse and siblings, Peter, Gwen and Baby Boy Morehouse.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors of 3 East at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital as well as at Hospice House in Fredericton for their exceptional care and compassion for not only Gary but his loved ones as well.  We would also like to give our gratitude to special family friend Beryl Lenentine for helping our mother and grandmother through this difficult time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton. Visitation will take place at Stone Ridge Pentecostal Church on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm. A Funeral Service will follow directly at 1 pm with Pastor Ed Guiggey officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Zealand, NB. Pallbearers are Neville Brewer, Trevor Brewer, Travis (TJ) Brewer, Riley Cook, Teddy Brewer and Ivan Morehouse. As per Gary’s wishes, dress is casual in keeping with the simple life he lived. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
