Obituary of Morley Hughes

Please share a memory of Morley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The family of Morley Hughes is sad to announce his passing at home, June 13, 2023. He was born in Toronto on August 6, 1954 to Marguerite and Edward Hughes. Morley is survived by his sister, Vivian (Jerry) Wilcox; brother, Paul Hughes; nephews, Chris (Kayla) Wilcox, Jason (Janice) Wilcox, and Kyle (Anna) Wilcox, and seven great nieces and nephews, Edward, Henry, Claire, Jillian, Jaclyn, James, and Kate.

Morley grew up in Fulton Heights. He graduated from Fredericton High in 1972 and headed West as a young man where he drove a taxi in Calgary and Fort McMurray. Later, he worked at the busiest pizzeria in North Vancouver for several decades before moving to Hamilton, Ontario and finally returning to Fredericton in 2016.

Morley was content with his simple minimalist life. He enjoyed walking outdoors, tinkering with his car, a beer and game of pool at Dooly's. He also enjoyed his coffee and computer games. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, his entertaining sense of humour, and his mischievous grin. Morley had a kind demeanor and was a gentle man.

There will be no visitation. A private committal will take place at Sunny Bank Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
