Obituary of Stella Helene Woodcock

The passing of Stella Helene Woodcock of Nackawic, NB, wife of the late Charles “Merlin” Woodcock occurred on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Upper River Valley Hospital.  Born on June 26, 1938 in Barryville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Helene (LeBouthillier) McKay.

Stella loved spending time with her family and friends, her world being her grandchildren.  She was committed to bingo, as well as always lending a helping hand in her community, and is remembered as a devoted member of the Nackawic Lion’s Club and the Ladies Auxiliary for a large part of her life.  Stella worked as a paramedic for the Saint John Ambulance and worked at York Funeral Home as well before stepping back to be more involved in her community and spend time with family.  She was also a member of the PC Party.    

Stella is survived by her children, Ronald Woodcock of British Columbia; Susan Hood (Jerry) and Sandra Woodcock both of Nackawic, NB; grandchildren, Nick, Barbie, Ledford, Amanda, Justin, Ronnie Jr., Kenton, Erica, Cody, Jessica, Jarrett, Samantha, Natasha, Jasmine, Stephen and Lucas; great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Stella was predeceased by her daughter, Stephanie Woodcock; son, Randall Woodcock; and her friend, Marjorie Christie.  Stella was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 12-2 pm; followed by a Memorial Service at 3 pm with Rev. Wayne Blinn officiating.  Members of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 59, Millville and the Nackawic Lions Club are asked to assemble at 3 pm for Tribute Services.  Interment will take place in the Nashwaak Bridge Community Cemetery at a later date.  For those who wish, donation may be made to the IWK or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
