Obituary of Harold Augustus Maynard

It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Maynard, husband to Madonna (Donnie) Callahan Maynard announce his passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Harold was born on August 7, 1940 in Corner Brook Newfoundland. He was one of four children born to Benjamin and Hazel (Hatcher) Maynard.

Harold received his early education in Corner Brook, NL and then went onto receive a BSc from St. Francis Xavier University. Harold then earned a degree in electrical engineering from Nova Scotia Technical University in 1965 and married Donnie one week later in Halifax. Harold loved engineering and worked in his field for 45 years, working for Bailey Meter, NB Power and Neil and Gunter. Later in his career he helped form Maynard Reece Engineering Co., alongside his business partners Les Reece and Mac Turner until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Donnie of 58 years; he is survived by his children, Patti (Peter Nadeau), Karen (Mike Legere) and Peter (Anna Fryday); six grandchildren, Jordan Nadeau (Emily), Tyler Nadeau (Jessica), Logan, Morgan and Sarah Legere and Cecelia Maynard, as well as three great grandchildren, Sullivan, Eliza and Emberleigh. Harold loved his family dearly and was a constant figure of love and support. Harold is also survived by three brothers, Benjamin, George (Joan), Jack (Sandra); several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Carrie Maynard and his nephews, Rodney Maynard and Scott Maynard.

A Celebration of Harold’s life will be held at the Fredericton City Club on June 17, 2023 from 2-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Community Kitchen or any charity helping with homelessness in your community.
