Obituary of Eleanor Louise Thomas
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Eleanor True-Thomas of Maugerville, NB, who passed suddenly at the DECH on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Eleanor was born to Roath and Helen True of Maugerville on March 14, 1955. She was the loving wife of Wayne Thomas who predeceased her two years prior.
Throughout her life she was never far away from a garden of one sort or another which she loved dearly. She started her flower career at Brunswick Gardens, and then moved to Scott’s Nursery until she left to join her mother to carry on the family business, True’s Nursery in Maugerville which she did until her death. Eleanor was a fixture at the Boyce Farmer’s Market every Saturday, as her parents were before her, for the last 25 years.
Eleanor loved the time she spent with her father square dancing when she was young. She made many lifelong friends through her bowling league who affectionately called her “Inch”. She loved and doted on her fur babies and could never manage to turn one away that came to her door.
Eleanor is survived by her mother-in-law, Greta Thomas and her two sons, Jason (Melanie) Thomas and Geoff (Paula) Thomas. She adored her five grandchildren, Nikita, Tia, Lauren, Kaleb and Kiana and was always available whenever they wanted to talk to Nanny. She also leaves behind a sister, Betty Anne Henry and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who could always count on her endless love and support.
She is also survived by Ardeth Glenwright and Garry Aylward who were always by her side for the bad times and the great times. They were more than friends, they were family. She will be forever missed.
Eleanor was predeceased by her parents and husband, Wayne; sister, Barb Aylward; brother, Donald True; her niece, Sarah Aylward and her father-in-law, Wilbur Thomas.
