Obituary of Lillian Elizabeth Hill

Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lillian Hill (nee Jack) passed away at Hospice House with her daughters by her side on April 26, 2023, at the age of 90. Born on February 24, 1933 in Bedeque, PEI, she was the second of three girls born to the late Stanley and Stella Jack.

Lillian was predeceased (in 2019) by her husband of 69 years, George Hill. She will be lovingly missed by her son, Wayne (Sheila) Hill; daughters, Debbie (Jim) Shanks; Cheryl Gibb; Cathy (Bill) Fallow. Lillian is lovingly remembered as 'Nanny' by her grandchildren, Kendra Gibb, Matthew Gibb, Kaila Elder; Roy (Lauren) Hill; Hanna Downey (Chris); Kim (Rob) Connell; Kaitlyn Fallow, as well as ten great grandchildren. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lillian is also predeceased by her sisters, Goldie (John) Smallwood and Ruth (Herb) MacDonald; sister-in-law, Laura MacDonald (Elmer Buchanan), Brothers-in-law, Arnold (Eva) Hill, Gerald Hill, and Harold MacDonald.

Without a doubt, family was Nanny's absolute greatest joy. She gave freely of herself so that she could raise her children. Her rewards came in life as she watched her family grow and achieve many milestones. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they equally adored her.

Nanny was an incredibly strong woman with a kind and caring heart. She survived many trials and challenges in her life yet she always took care of others needs ahead of her own. She had a special fondness for her sons-in-law, always making sure they were fed and taken care of before the rest of us.

Nanny was our family's unofficial genealogist and storyteller. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She had endless stories to share with us and we loved to hear them. Many were comical, as one never knew what she was going to say next. She often reminisced about her childhood on the farm and when she met the love of her life, George/Cappy.

Nanny enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She and Cappy maintained lifelong friendships with other families from 27 years spent in the Canadian Armed Forces. They also remained close with family on PEI. Nanny fondly remembered the camping trips she and Cappy enjoyed over the years. They would play washers and card games for hours with their camping friends.

Nanny, Rummoli won't be the same without dealing you in (and we'll keep an eye on Jim).

Rest easy Nan. Put your worries away now, we've got it from here. After all, we

learned from the best.

York Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. By request there will be no visitation. Graveside service and interment will take place in Lower Bedeque, PEI at a later date. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice House. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
