Obituary of Leonard Douglas Bishop

The death of Leonard Douglas Bishop occurred on Sunday, April 23, 2023 in Fredericton, NB. Born in Chipman, NB on June 7, 1942, he was the youngest son of Marshall and Helen (Flewelling) Bishop. Leonard was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Jeanette Edith (Rogers).

 

Leonard worked as an insurance claims adjuster with NB Power and retired in 1996 after 30 years of service. Leonard was very involved in the Masonic Lodge and was initiated into Freemasonry on May 14, 1975 at Grand Lake No 47. He advanced to Master Mason and 33 degree through the years.

 

Leonard is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Kendrick (Mike), and Susan Bishop; grand-daughters Emma and Abby Harris; his brother, Allan Bishop (Jacqueline); sister-in-laws Norma Bishop; Brenda Carle (Dale); Wanda Steen (Jim); brother-in-law Clifton Rogers (Lorna); nieces Leah Jeffries (Fred); Carla Bishop; Melanie McNamera (Chris); Michelle Belliveau (Kody); Katherine Steen (Mark); nephews Lawrence Bishop (Sarah Jane); Dale Bishop; Colin Carle (Sophia); Matthew Carle (Gladys); Brad Rogers (Becky); Adam Rogers (Becca), 7 great nieces and nephews; and a number of cousins, close family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his oldest brother Roland (Rolly) Bishop.

 

The family would like to thank the friends and family who have offered their support and guidance during this time.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 1 pm at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, Fredericton, NB, followed by a reception. Interment will take place in the Saint Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church Cemetery, Newcastle Bridge, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
