DORAN, DONNA

December 27, 1932 – April 20, 2023

With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Donna Doran on April 20, 2023. Donna was the eldest daughter of the late Jessie and Frederick Shrimpton and was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She lived most of her joyous life on the Nashwaak River where she and Leo settled after 25 years of military life. She was living at Farraline Home when she passed but spent the weekends and holidays in Nackawic with her daughter for the past three years. Previous to this, Donna and Leo enjoyed visits to Turks and Caicos to visit their other daughter.

Donna always found the best in everyone. She was in love with life itself and a role model to all the lives she touched. She was happiest when her kitchen was full of people who would stop in for tea/a drink, talk and maybe a card game. Her home was considered the “Dew Drop Inn of the Nashwaak” and her door was never locked.

Donna had an infectious smile that would bring happiness to anyone she met. She loved all animals, birds, flower gardens, playing the piano and relaxing in the sun. Her ability to listen, comfort and make people realize the greatest things in life were some of her finest traits. Her card playing was exceptional and she certainly taught a few people a couple of good lessons with cribbage, forty-fives, the dice game and thirty-ones.

Donna was predeceased by the love of her life, Joseph Leo Doran and her two brothers, Bill Cooper (Joan) and Glen Shrimpton (Iris). She will be sadly missed by her children, Terry Doran (Debbie), Donna Doran (Eric), Shannon Doran (Tim), and Billy Doran (Michele); her grandchildren, Jeremy Doran (Sabrina), Justin Doran (Bobbie-Jo), Jasmine Doran Young (Michael), Ryan Doran (Alyssa) and Brogan Britt Doran; her great grandchildren, Kate, Bennett, Jaxson, Caelen, William and Max.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Farraline Home for their loving care of Donna.

There will be a celebration of life at the Fredericton Rugby Club, 20 Cityview Avenue, Fredericton from 5-7 pm on Friday, May 5, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Farraline Home (Queen Street, Fredericton) or SPCA.

York Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements. Personal Condolences may be offered at www.yorkfh.com. At Donna’s request there will be no service or visitation. Interment will follow at a later date.
