Obituary of Frances Margaret Allaby

The passing of Frances Margaret Allaby of Fredericton, NB, wife of George Allaby, occurred on April 2, 2023 at Fredericton, NB. Born on September 11, 1936 in North Devon, NB, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Audrey (Boyd) MacNaughton. Fran always possessed an innate sense of style, and never considered herself truly ready for the day without multiple pieces of jewellery adorning her. During her early years she worked in customer service, later dedicating herself to her most important job, being the best Nana possible to her beloved grandchildren. Fran had a love of all animals, especially her birds Jock and Charlie. She felt that most problems in life could be solved by a visit to Harvey’s or Tim Hortons and could light up a room with her smile and boisterous laugh. She will be sorely missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her.

Frances is survived by her, sons Robert Jewett (Cynthia) and Wayne Jewett, both of Fredericton; daughter Judith Schaap (John) of Airdrie; brothers David MacNaughton of Brampton, John MacNaughton (Linda) of Airdrie and Keith MacNaughton (Nancy) of Fredericton; sister Florence Baldwin (Hal) of Fredericton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Patricia Jewett and brother Robert MacNaughton.

A graveside service will take place in the Douglas Rural Cemetery, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Alzheimer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
