Obituary of Edith Grace Fawcett

FAWCETT, EDITH (GRANT)

The passing of Edith (Grant) Fawcett of Fredericton, NB occurred on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Hospice Fredericton. Born in Pinder, NB in 1931, she was the daughter of the late Scovil and Myrtle (Stairs) Grant and the wife of the late Ivan Fawcett.

Ivan and she enjoyed their time at Beulah Camp in Brown’s Flat with family and friends.  She was employed with Wilkins Building Supplies and the Province of NB. She was a member of the Journey Wesleyan Church for a number of years.

She is survived by one son, Stephen (Donna); two granddaughters, Leslie and Jenny, all of Fredericton, NB; brother in law, John Fawcett of Millville, NB; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan in 2014 and son, Robert in 2021; her parents, two brothers, Irvine and Allan; four sisters, Helen St. Peter, Ruth Chase, Katherine Stairs, Eva Fawcett and two infant sisters, Leah and Mary.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Hospice Fredericton. The dedication and care given to Edith in her final days is unforgettable. She adored you all and was so appreciative of your kindness.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, on March 23, 2023 at 2 pm with Pastor Matthew Maxwell officiating. Burial will take place at Nortondale Cemetery at a later date.
