Obituary of Carol Frances Lee

It is with great sadness and heartbreak, the Lee, Vincent, Lamb and Nutten families announce the passing of our kind, brave, witty and caring wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Carol Frances Lee (Vincent, Hobson, Collyer). She passed on Thursday, March 09, 2023, with her devoted husband, Barry, by her side.

Born in Wembley, England, Carol emigrated to Canada in 1965. Her plan for independence in this new country took a bit of a left turn when she was followed from England by a smitten admirer, Terence (Terry) Vincent. Carol and Terry welcomed three daughters during their many years of marriage and enjoyed traveling, including a year spent in France where they met their good friend, Barry Lee. In 2000, Terry sadly succumbed to Alzheimer’s. Carol spent their last years together, by his side, taking care of him and prioritizing his needs above her own.

Following the years of friendship and sharing the bond of loss, Carol married her partner and kindred spirit, Barry Lee, in 2002. Carol and Barry enjoyed 20 years of marriage with more laughter and fun than many are fortunate enough to experience in a whole lifetime. Fellow creative and talented artists, they had much in common and would each contribute their special touch to every project, painting, card, book or figurine. With a love of exploring and a big dose of humour, they navigated many adventures together and always had fun, laughs and wonderful stories to tell after the fact.

Carol was never one for fleeting or superficial friendships. After the death of her sister, Jean, she never found another real sister bond until she met her “twin flame”, Joan Nutten, at the Fredericton YMCA. They immediately formed a deep connection and loved to spend time together talking, shopping, sharing stories and just thoroughly enjoying each other’s company. Joan and Carol’s relationship was the epitome of the saying “there are friends, there is family, and then there are friends that become family”.

Carol is survived by her husband, Barry; daughters Jacqueline, Suzanne and Michelle; stepdaughter Janine, and many adoring grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Spring of 2023. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, whose incredible staff consistently went above and beyond to make sure her final days were as comfortable as possible.
