It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Anne Barron announce her passing at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 19, 2023. She was born in Toronto, ON January 23rd, 1936 to the late Gladys (Smith) and Jim Peacock. Shirley later moved to New Brunswick with her late husband Mike where they raised their family and founded Maritime Insulation Ltd.
Shirley was a busy stay at home mom, raising five children. She was a much loved ‘neighborhood mom’ to many, always serving her home baked cookies and treats to all. Everyone loved her great sense of humor and infectious laugh. Shirley was an avid gardener and an exceptional cook as well as a master at crossword puzzles. Shirley adored her grandchildren and they adored their Nana who always made them laugh. Shirley could often be found at her favorite place, our camp on the Miramichi River where she and Mike created many family memories. Shirley is survived by her four remaining children, Michael of Porter Cove, NB, Robert of Porter Cove, NB, Anne (Michael) Falk of Sarasota, Florida and Adrienne (Ed) Keyes of Saint John, NB. Her eight grandchildren, Erika, Jill, Jennifer, Cindy, Brittany, Katherine, Chris and Sean. Sisters, Eleanor, Jackie and Diane as well as several great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael; son, Danny; granddaughter, Sara and brothers, Ronnie, Bob and Bill.
The family would like to thank Dr Amy Russell, Extra Mural and the amazing nurses at the Palliative Care unit at the DECH as well as her very special caregivers, Katherine Stewart and Connie Palmer.
Visitation will take place March 10th from 4 to 7 PM at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr Fredericton, NB. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on March 11th at 11:00 AM at St Theresa’s Church, 1 William St., Fredericton, NB with Father Maria Arokiam Chinnappan as celebrant.
