The passing of Margaret “Peggy” Hutt of Fredericton NB, wife of the late Cyril Hutt, occurred on January 10, 2023 at the York Care Centre.  Born on June 20, 1926 in Manchester, England, she was the only child of the late Harry and Jessie (Kershaw) Rothwell.

Peggy was a War Bride who landed on Pier 21 of the Halifax Harbour in 1945, beginning a long, full journey of life.  Peggy was blessed with 8 children whom she loved dearly and so began the extensive branch of her family tree with many generations to follow.  She was a hardworking lady, waitressing for many years at the Mactaquac Lodge. She was also a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Zealand and devoted many hours over the years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.  Peggy had a passion for knitting and she loved to shop. Above all else, Peggy absolutely adored a hot cup of tea while watching the latest episode of Coronation Street. She was a wonderful lady who will remain forever in the hearts of all who loved her.

Peggy is survived by her children: Susan Hutchins, Kathleen Wilson, Jennifer Pugh (Stanley), Elizabeth Dube, Peggy Anne Bird (Terry), John Foss (Sharon) and Wayne Foss (Stephanie); grandchildren: Miriam, Colin, Austina, Peter, Melanie, Angela, David, Jamie, Mark, Kristian, Julie and Aaron; twenty-three great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband Cyril, Peggy was predeceased by her first husband Raymond Foss, her son Glenn Foss and her grandson Carey Hutchins.

Arrangements entrusted to the professional care of York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive , Fredericton , NB.   In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, there will be no visiting or funeral. Peggy’s family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at York Care Centre for the kind and compassionate care given to their mom. They are truly grateful.
