Obituary of Judy Kerstens

The family of Judith “Judy” Elizabeth Kerstens of Nasonworth, NB, wife of Donald John Kerstens, would like to announce her passing on January 8, 2023 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on June 10, 1948 in Blissfield, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Elsie (Walls) Morehouse. Judy worked as a Nurse at the DECRH and was an Alumni of VPH. Always very creative, she loved quilting and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband of 52 years, Judy is survived by sons, John Kerstens (Lori) of Fredericton, NB, Joel Kerstens (Wila) of New Maryland, NB; grandchildren, Malik, Morgan, Landon, Mya; great granddaughter, Ellie; sisters, Edith Pereira (Carlos), Willa Ashfield (Al) and Marjorie Lyons (late Allen); brothers, William Morehouse (Judy), Robert Morehouse (Anna); sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hruby (Peter), Barbara Price; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brother, John Morehouse; father and mother-in-law, John and Martha Kerstens; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Kerstens (late Rose-Marie), Gerald Kerstens; nephew, John Lyons.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Extra Mural and Medigas for their kindness and caring shown to Judy, over the last year.  The kindness and professionalism from the doctors and nurses from the Emergency Room and 3SW at the DECRH will not be forgotten by Judy’s family.  A simple thank you does not seem sufficient.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church, 55 Corbett Avenue, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2 pm with Rev. Harry Waugh and Rev. Karl Csaszar officiating.  Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Parkinson’s Society, Chalmers Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
