It is with great sadness that the family of Anita Mary Gaudet (née Blackier), wife of the late Alcide Joseph Gaudet (2020), announces her passing on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on June 9, 1943 in Minto, NB, she was the daughter of the late Eloie (1991) and Assunta (2019) (Richard) Blackier.  She resided in New Maryland, NB for 49 years, in the house Alcide built himself.  Anita worked many years for the government of New Brunswick, before retiring in 2001 for health reasons.  She loved to cook and had many talents, such as painting, sewing, embroidering, and crocheting, to name a few.  Both she and her husband loved camping and attending Bluegrass music festivals, where Anita could often be found singing during open mic with their many friends.

Anita is survived by her son, Robert Gaudet of New Maryland, NB, her daughter, Lori Soucy and her granddaughter, Amy Soucy both of Charters Settlement, NB; two sisters, Yvonne Jones (John) and Florence DiCarlo (John); one brother, Jack Blackier (Assunta); three sisters in law, Leonice Gallant (Leo Paul), Lucia Richard (Paul) and Andrea Gallant (Gilles); one brother in law, Edward Gaudet (Cathy); several nieces, nephews and cousins.

As per her wishes, visitation and service will be for immediate family only at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel.  Interment will take place in Hermitage Cemetery.  In Anita’s memory, remembrances may be made to the Sjögren’s Society of Canada.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
