Obituary of Doris Evelyn Burtt

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The passing of Doris Evelyn Burtt of Fredericton, NB, occurred on December 28, 2022 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on June 19, 1937 in Douglas Parish, NB, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Elizabeth "Betty" (True) and Otis Phillip Currie.

Doris was a devoted mother of three, nonetheless she adored her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Whether they were near or far, she was their biggest cheerleader. Always present and reliable, Nanny loved spending time with them all.

Doris is survived by daughters, Cathy Pittman (Russ) of St. Catharines, ON and Sharon McKeen (Randy) of Fredericton; brothers,  David Currie (Margaret) of Fredericton and Paul Currie (Florence) of Fredericton;  sister-in-law, Marlene Currie; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she dearly loved, Adam (Julia), Port Hope, ON;  Sean (Laura) Pittman, Kitchener,  ON;  David McKeen, Fredericton, Katie McKeen (Mike) and Anna McKeen (Matt); great grandchildren, Grayson, Graham and Mabel; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son, Stephen Burtt and brother, Phillip Currie.

The family would like to say thank-you to her neighbours who cared for Doris; to Edwina and Lori at Edwina’s and Happy Baker, for meals they provided for her, Erma and Katherine her stylists, and Trish and staff at Plugged-IN, CPA Accounting. The support she received from her community was so greatly appreciated and undeniably comforting for her and her family.

There will be no funeral as per Doris’ wishes and the Family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Interment will take place in Seymour Memorial Cemetery, Kingsley in the Spring.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation, as Doris’ wish was to help medical research by donating her body to science. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
