Coughlan – Raymond Scott (Beaver)

July 4, 1943 – December 24, 2022

Today our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to this amazing man whom we loved and was loved so much.

Survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra; his daughter, Nancy Cornford (Charlie); grandson, Taylor Osmun (Marie), who always held a special place in his heart; grandson, Andrew Cornford (Megan); granddaughters, Jaimee Hutchins (Jesse) and Laura Cornford (Stephen); and his beautiful great-grandchildren, Rachel, Evelyn, Charlie, Adeline, Connor, Nate, and Willow. Left to mourn also are his siblings, Elizabeth Fullarton (Wayne), Nancy Deveau (Raymond), Paul Harmon (Rhona), Gary Henry (Lilla) and Don Giberson; sister-in-law, Joyce Forbes (late John); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Hazel and Scott Coughlan; his biological mother, Doris Harmon; sister, Pauline Stewart (Allen); sister-in-law, Marlene Nicole and brother-in-law, John Forbes.

A well-respected businessman, Raymond and his wife Sandra operated R.S. Coughlan Transportation for 50 years. A dedicated and loyal hard worker, he kept himself busy, earning him the nickname “Beaver” that he carried throughout his entire life.

He loved his family and friends dearly and was always teasing and sparking laughter in his good-natured way. He was a doting and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who took special interest in the lives of each of his loved ones.

In 1961 Raymond met Sandra, the love of his life, and they were happily married for 58 years. Together they ran their business and raised their daughter Nancy. The couple shared a love of music and travel. They travelled frequently throughout the USA and Canada in their motor home, and enjoyed vacations with treasured friends.

Raymond was a volunteer firefighter for Nashwaaksis Fire Dept., member of the Express Hockey Club, and on the Board of Directors for the Fredericton Canadiens Hockey Club. He attended many NASCAR races across the USA, and worked at the Geary Speedway for 30 years. In his younger years he enjoyed stock car racing, drag racing, snowmobile racing, and Go Kart racing with his grandson Taylor.

Raymond was dependable and true, always there if someone needed a helping hand be it day or night. He touched the lives of countless people from all walks of life.

We will miss you beyond words and love you forever. You were so special to so many.
