BRADFORD, BARBARA JEAN “BARB”

(1940-2022)

Barbara passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. She was born in Beardstown, Illinois on November 30, 1940 and she was the daughter of the late Smith and Lucille (Knaak) Rakestraw.  After graduating Barbara married Eugene, and then moved to New Brunswick, where they lived and grew their beautiful family for the last 61 years.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene; three sons, Douglas, Gregory (Wendy) and Derek (Serena); five grandchildren, Elizabeth McLean (Isaac), Emma, Ben, Olivia and Abbie; one great-grandson, Winston McLean.

 

Barbara graduated from St. Francis Hospital of Nursing Program in Peoria, Illinois in 1961. She had a passion for caring for people and,  prior to her retirement,  she worked part-time at the Dr. Chalmers Hospital and Pine Grove Nursing Home.

Barbara’s greatest love was her family and her faith. Over the years, she has been an active member of the Burtts Corner Church of Christ.

 

Visitation will take place at Burtts Corner Church of Christ on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 10-12 pm followed by the Celebration of Life at 2 pm. Donations in Barbara’s name can be made to Burtts Corner Church of Christ or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
