Obituary of Melva Loretta Steen

With a sad heart we announce the passing of Melva Loretta Steen formerly of Doaktown, NB, wife of the late Dollard Steen, on October 24, 2022 at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrew's, NB.  Born on September 19, 1930 in Corner Brook, NL, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Hopkins) Bailey. Melva and her first husband, Carl, owned and operated Melva’s Restaurant in Amos Flats for many years. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and especially loved a good day of washer tossing.

Melva is survived by her daughters, Denice Bailey (Robert) of Letang, NB Nancy Pond (Calvin) of Musgravetown, NL; son, Brian Russell (Judy) of Blackfalds, AB; step-daughter Sherry Steen, of St. George, NB; stepdaughter-in-law Barb Steen, of St. George, NB; grandchildren, Maria French and Kristen French, Nancy-Ann Morin (Stephane), Nicolas Russell (Rebecca); several great and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and second husband, Melva was predeceased by her first husband, Carl Russell; grandsons, Ronald Porter and Darren Porter; sisters, Jean Ward, Shirley Barrett and Viola Butt; step-son Buddy Steen.

Visitation will take place at Abundant Life Church, 583 Main Street, Doaktown on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held at Abundant Life Church, on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 2 pm with Rev. William Stewart officiating.  Interment will be in the Doaktown First Pentecostal Cemetery.
