Obituary of Isabel Martin

It is with profound sadness that the family of Isabel Martin announces her passing on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the age of 90 in Fredericton, NB.

Isabel was born in Canal, NB on August 7, 1932 to Louis and Mary (Oliver) Stevens. Her parents loved her dearly and showed that love to her everyday. Her family knows this to be so as she did the same for us. When Isabel finished high school she moved to Saint John and began working for NB Tel as a telephone operator. She loved her job and it was in Saint John that she met her Prince Charming, Lloyd Martin. Isabel and Lloyd were married on August 27, 1955 and celebrated 63 years/3 months/27 days together.

Isabel made many friends through the church and in the communities where Lloyd was transferred through his job. She was a person of strong faith and her church family was very important to her. As death comes to all of us, our Mom wanted everyone to know that she lived a very happy and fulfilled life. She suggested that we shed a few tears upon her passing and then move on with memories of a life well lived. And, as we all know, Mom always had the last word! 

Isabel loved Lloyd; her daughters, Catherine Anne, Sherie Lynn, Janet Elaine, and Lori Beth; her grandchildren, Sean and Morgan Mullally, Justin White, Erica Wilson, Jason, Michelle and Ben Paquin, Rebecca Rouse, Jacob and David Lyons; great grandchildren, Sawyer Paquin, Ava Jewett-Paquin, Nora and Eve Wilson. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary and Betty; her sister in law, Beryl Elkins (Steve); sons in law, George Mullally, John White and Jay Belyea; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 2-4 pm at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 75 Main Street, Fredericton, NB.  A service celebrating Isabel’s life will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2 pm at the same location with Rev. Paul Ranson officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
