Obituary of Lily Isabella Boone

The family of the late Lily Isabella Boone “Bella”, wife of the late Freddie Boone, wishes to announce her passing April 7, 2024. As per her wishes, she passed away at home with her family by her side.

Bella was the daughter of the late Mary and Mowatt Hood. Born in Cross Creek, she had 7 younger siblings whom she adored. She was a co-provider for her family, and known as a hard worker; At York Manor, she prided herself in preparing 2 delicious meals a day serving over 250 residents and staff. Bella also was known as a leader in her community, church and the St. John Ambulance. Dedicated to her family, she especially enjoyed her camp in Coles Island where she spent special times with her sister Sherry and her family. She will be remembered for her varied crafting skills and entries in the Stanley Fair. She crafted beautiful handmade quilts and proudly achieved her goal for each member of her family to receive one. Her greatest pride and joy was knitting enough socks to last her son Freddie a lifetime.

Survived by her children, Freddie (Shelly), Joanne (Allan), and Jacalyn (Allen); brother, Leonard (Diane); sisters, Sherry (Art), Shirley (Danny); seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Bella was predeceased by her husband, Freddie Boone and sons, Neil and Dale. She was also predeceased by her special friend Ebby Wilkins. Other predeceased family members were her parents Mowatt and Mary Hood; her brothers, Fred, Neil, and Harry; her sister, Helen; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Bella’s “homemaker family”, the Extra Mural staff, Dr. Stephanie Frenette and the palliative care program; and the loving spiritual care of her sister Sherry and brother-in-law, Art.

In keeping with Bella’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at the United Church Cemetery in Tay Creek at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Cemetery Fund. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
