June Elizabeth Carty (Howe) of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Gerald Douglas Carty, passed away on January 30, 2026, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was born June 8, 1927 in Fredericton, NB.; the daughter of the late Estella Mae Howe (Hudlin) and Ernest Howe.

June is survived by her sons, John Carty (Alain Paulin), David Carty, and daughter, Wendy Carty (Dr. Bill Cook); Grandchildren (David), Elfed, Solomon, Jacob, Rebecca, Asha, Geoffrey, Dylan; (Wendy); Jessica, Rachel, Frank; (Brian); Alexander and Ian; Great grandchildren; Josef, Fabio, Lorenzo, Bianca; Otis, Leona; Remington; Lola, and Mac; her brother Carl Howe (Doreen), and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, June was predeceased by her son Brian Carty and siblings Ronald, Elma, Eldon, Marguerite, Royden, Opal and Watson.

June grew up in Devon and attended The Devon Superior School, Fredericton High School and the Fredericton Business College.

She worked at Zellers on Queen Street followed by 25 years with the Federal Government, at the Dept. of Family Allowances and Old Age Security and then as a Postal Clerk with Canada Post at the old post office building on Queen Street. During that time, due to a challenge she was faced with, mom was deeply honoured and remained forever grateful that a special acquaintance rallied the downtown business community to support her, and the Fredericton Board of Trade very publicly stood behind her and officially recognized her as “Mrs. Hospitality” for the City of Fredericton.

She loved working with the public and meeting new people; she loved colors; she loved growing and being surrounded by flowers, and she expressed her attraction to colors and flowers in her paintings.

Mom was very proud of the fact that she made a solo flight while training to become a pilot; a career which she unfortunately had to abandon due to the demands of raising a young family.

More than anything else, June loved her family and regularly expressed her pride in each one’s life accomplishments. She was deeply loved by one and all as much as she clearly deeply loved each and every one of us. Other than her unconditional love, her most defining character trait was her profound sense of gratitude.
