Obituary of Edward Lewis John Skidmore

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The passing of Edward “Eddie” Lewis John Skidmore of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Fredericton, NB on March 24, 1971, he was the cherished son of Pauline Cashen and the late Lewis Skidmore.

Eddie was a one-of-a-kind presence whose warmth, humour, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. A valued member of the Fredericton Princess Auto family for nearly nine years, he worked in Hydraulics, where coworkers described him as someone who brought laughter wherever he went. Known for his exemplary customer service, Eddie was always ready with a joke, a prank, or a bit of harmless shenanigans, making the workday lighter simply by being around. His loss is felt deeply by his coworkers, who say the workplace truly won’t be the same without him.

Outside of work, Eddie was an avid and devoted Dungeons & Dragons player whose love of fantasy and science fiction extended far beyond the game itself. Through years of weekly gatherings, he helped create a welcoming space of friendship, imagination, and mentorship that profoundly shaped the lives of those around him. This same generosity of spirit was reflected in his personal life, including the close and meaningful bonds he shared with his beloved nephew, Calum and sister, Debi, his dedication to caring for his mother, and the time he treasured spending with his friends and family at the Camp on Cains River Road.

In addition to his mother, Pauline, Eddie is survived by his sister, Debi and nephew, Calum; goddaughter, Delaney; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; close friends, Joe and Kevin; his Princess Auto family, and his Dungeon & Dragons group. Eddie is predeceased by several family members including maternal grandmother, Francis Cashen “Nanny”; cousin, Tyler Messer; childhood cat, Frisky; and family dog, Tiny.

Private services will take place. Those who wish to attend are asked to email Eddie’s sister, Debi, for further details at debiskidmore@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scouts Canada “No One Left Behind” Program or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
